For decades, I’ve dedicated myself to pushing the boundaries of the sport. Here are some highlights of my journey:

  • Set three world records for running a marathon on each continent.
  • Raced and coached runners across extreme terrain, from Antarctic Ice, to Andean heights, to Saharan Sands.
  • Rebounded from health setbacks to achieve peak fitness and performance in my 30s, 40s and 50s.
  • Repeatedly qualified for the Boston Marathon, World Marathon Majors, and the Western States 100.
  • Achieved podium finishes and course records from 5Ks to ultramarathons.

But my proudest achievement? Helping runners like you push their limits and achieve the extraordinary. 

The journey of a distance runner is demanding, and women face unique obstacles on that path. As we age, more challenges can often be layered on – from our bodies to outside demands.

Witnessing the impact of aging as a caregiver to my parents further fueled my passion to empower as they age to achieve their running goals, help them navigate the hurdles inherent in women’s distance running, and counter the short- and long-term changes that may come with different life stages.

Amie brings over 46 years of running experience and 33 years of coaching and training clients to help you achieve your endurance goals, improve your health, and unlock your full fitness potential.

She holds a diverse range of certifications and experience that equip her to provide comprehensive and personalized coaching tailored specifically to your needs and goals.

  • RRCA Level I & II Certified Distance Running Coach: This advanced certification allows Amie to coach sub-elite marathon runners, create technical training plans for ultrarunners, and guide you in areas like optimal nutrition, injury prevention, and more.
  • USATF Distance Running Coach: Certified by the National Governing Body for track and field in the US, Amie offers expertise in coaching distance runners for foundational and advanced performance.
  • UESCA Certified Ultrarunning Coach: For your ultramarathon aspirations, Amie is equipped with specialized knowledge and training methods specific to this challenging terrain.
  • Lydiard Foundation Certified Coach: She is trained in the Lydiard method, a renowned system emphasizing base building and personalized training plans, often used by elite distance runners.
  • Accredited TrainingPeaks Coach: Amie utilizes the leading endurance training platform to design and track your progress toward your goals.
  • National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach: This certification enables Amie to support you holistically, considering your lifestyle, environment, and personal needs while striving for optimal well-being.
  • U.S. Center for SafeSport Certified: Amie is certified by this organization, working to eliminate abuse and misconduct in sports, demonstrating her commitment to athlete safety and well-being.
  • A former Adjunct Instructor at the Indiana University School of Kinesiology/Exercise Science, she taught many about run training and endurance, strength and conditioning, gaining cardiovascular fitness, fitness programming, and health planning. 

Beyond certifications, Amie is passionate about empowering individuals, especially those who have faced adversity. As a survivor of sexual assault and stalking, she understands the power of running to foster resilience, improve mental health, and overcome challenges.

  • Passion for Distance: I specialize in coaching distance runners because of the unique blend of challenge and accomplishment it brings to their lives.
  • Holistic Roots: My journey with holistic health began thanks to my dad, who, while inspiring my love of running, unfortunately did so after putting out a cigarette. Witnessing firsthand the impact of lifestyle choices sparked my lifelong passion for well-being.
  • Always Learning: I’m currently researching Ph.D. programs to explore the connection between holistic practices and improved endurance performance and overall health. My love for nature also draws me towards potentially becoming a certified herbalist.
  • Dedicated Runner:  I didn’t run over 100+ miles per week until after I became a Master’s runner. It’s been a journey of dedication and consistency, allowing me to maintain an average of up to 128 miles per week—injury-free!

  • Fun on the Run: I confess I have a weakness for funny running t-shirts.
  • Don’t be surprised to see me out there with my furry running partner, Cody, the dog
  • And yes, I’m one of those people with the “I’d rather be running” license plate frame.
